Thank you to everyone that attended the Wreath Laying Ceremony at Adlington & District War Memorial, and helped to ensure that we acknowledged the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.

59 people from Adlington & District lost their life during World War Two and it is important we acknowledge their sacrifice, which has enabled us all to lead the lives we do today.

With thanks to St Paul’s Church Adlington and also St Paul’s Bell Ringers, Adlington, the special VJ Day Peal from the War Memorial Tower rang out to celebrate the peace that returned to our community after the war.

We will remember them.

Many thanks to everyone that attended the Adlington Civic Service at St Paul’s Church Adlington. It was good to see representatives from a number of local authorities and wonderful to see a number of local organisations represented. It provided a great occasion to acknowledge and thank the many people involved in serving the community and volunteering their time for the good of others.

Thank you also to everyone that offered support and helped on the day.

Well done again to everyone involved in Adlington Skip Day in June 2025. In spite of the bad weather and unfortunate absence of one of the skips, a lot of waste was cleared away.

Thank you to the team from Chorley Council for collecting larger, heavier waste items from local addresses.

The team were able to recycle certain items from the skips. The items, including six bicycles, which were then dropped off at the ‘Ukraine Unit’ donation centre in Chorley, which is operated by the Town Mayor, Cllr Stuart Clewlow. The bikes were all unusable as they were, but will be sent to a workshop in Ukraine. One person’s waste is another person’s treasure!

This was an all round great example of partnership working and helping the community. Well done everyone.
